Vietnam is the largest supplier of shrimp products to the UK

       The UK is the 6th largest single exporter of Vietnamese shrimp, with an export value of $159 million as of October, a year-on-year decrease of 18%, accounting for 5.6% of the total export value, Vietnamese shrimp exports to the UK have been unstable, but it is still regarded as an important export market. in 2020-2022, Vietnamese shrimp exports to the UK will be between $222 million and $243 million, with an increase in the value in 2020 of 20%, and a decrease in export value between 3-5% in 2021 and 2022.

     Shrimp products account for 10% of seafood market consumption in the U.K. Vietnam is the largest supplier of shrimp to the U.K., but Vietnamese shrimp has had to compete in the U.K. market with Indian and Ecuadorian shrimp in the market. In the first three quarters of this year, the UK spent 12% and 3% less on shrimp imports from India and Ecuador, respectively, while imports of cold water shrimp from Greenland increased by 10%. Vietnamese shrimp exporters will enjoy tariff preferences under the Vietnam-UK Free Trade Agreement, favoring Vietnamese shrimp to compete with other shrimp-producing countries such as China, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, India and Brazil.
