In the first nine months of this year, due to the decline in export prices, Vietnam's seafood exports to China decreased by 18 per cent to $1 billion, with exports dominated by balsa fish and prawns, which accounted for 40 per cent and 38 per cent, respectively, and export earnings decreased by 27 per cent and 8 per cent, respectively. For other products, octopus squid exports decreased by 10 per cent and crab by 82 per cent.
There have also been declines in sales of some categories such as balsa, lobster, squid, crab, crayfish, fish cakes, surimi, etc., but many species such as black tiger prawns, marine shrimp (prawns), longtail, yellow snapper, mackerel, etc., have shown positive signs of export. Many Vietnamese exporters have recognised that the Chinese market has been and will continue to be an important destination for Vietnameseseafood exports if they can grasp the market's needs, tastes and opportunities.Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)
