This year, China's imports of squid and cuttlefish have increased while exports have slowed down

In September this year, China imported a total of 30,900 tons of squid and cuttlefish, worth 719 million yuan, compared with 21,900 tons and 487 million yuan in the same period last year, an increase of 41.27% and 47.82%, respectively, but compared with August, the import volume decreased by 1.75% month-on-month, while the import value increased slightly by 1.21% month-on-month. In the first nine months of this year, the cumulative import volume was 352,600 tons, worth 6.957 billion yuan, an increase of 43.29% and 50.84% year-on-year respectively.

In September this year, China's exports of squid and cuttlefish were 38,800 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 10.17%, and the export value was 1.85 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 14.67%. Compared to August, the export volume increased slightly by 2.89% month-on-month, and the export value decreased by 1.23% month-on-month. In the first nine months of this year, the cumulative export volume was 374,200 tons, worth 18.53 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 15.08% and 21.59% respectively. With increased demand for squid in China's domestic market in the fourth quarter, the trend of increasing imports and decreasing exports is expected to continue in the remaining months of the year.
