The number of imported cod from South Korea decreased by 55% year-on-year in the first half of this year

In the first half of this year, South Korea imported 78415 tons of narrow cod, a year-on-year decrease of 55% compared to 172477 tons in the same period last year. In June, the import volume of frozen narrow cod was 9289 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 71% compared to 31807 tons in the same period last year.

As of the end of June, South Korea imported 75060 tons of frozen cod from Russia, 3239 tons from the United States, and 117 tons from Canada. The highest price for frozen cod is $1.45 per kilogram in the United States, $1.08 in Russia, and $1.21 in Canada. In June, the import value of frozen cod from South Korea was 4.26 million US dollars, a decrease of 80% compared to the same period last year of 20.89 million US dollars. The total import value of various types of cod was 85.68 million US dollars, a decrease of 60% compared to the same period last year of 212 million US dollars.
