In March of this year, the export value of Vietnamese crabs continued to decline, with a monthly export value of 11 million US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 37%. The cumulative export value of crabs in the first three months of this year was 30 million US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 42%. The main reason for the decrease was the decrease in demand caused by high inflation. By the end of March, Vietnamese crabs and crustacean seafood had been exported to 20 markets around the world, with the United States, Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong, the United Kingdom and the European Union being the five major buyers. Compared to the same period in 2022, the export trade of Vietnamese crabs and crustacean seafood to these markets has narrowed.
In the first quarter of this year, the export value of Vietnamese crabs to the CPTPP market exceeded 14 million US dollars, an increase of 82%. Japan is the largest purchasing country, accounting for 94% of the total export value, a year-on-year increase of 101%. However, exports to the United States, China, the United Kingdom, and the European Union decreased by 49%, 83%, 49%, and 75% respectively.
