In February of this year, the export value of products from the South China Sea reached 610 million US dollars, of which the export value of catfish was 156 million US dollars, accounting for 26%. Despite a 9% decrease in catfish exports, February's sales performance is also a positive signal against the backdrop of reduced demand and lower export prices caused by inflation. In March of this year, some countries began to increase their purchases of catfish, such as China. Vietnamese catfish exports to China increased by 26%, and as of the end of February, Vietnamese catfish exports to China amounted to 73 million US dollars.
In addition to China, Vietnamese catfish exports to other regions also saw double-digit growth in February, such as a 79% increase in exports to the UK, a 38% increase in exports to Colombia, an 84% increase in exports to Germany, a 90% increase in exports to Belgium, and a 90% increase in exports to Portugal. Some countries even achieved triple digit growth, such as Saudi Arabia, which increased by 110%, and Iraq, which increased by 332%. While Vietnam's catfish exports have grown, there has also been a decline, such as a 59% decrease in exports to the United States, a 23% decrease in exports to Brazil, a 29% decrease in exports to Thailand, and an 11% decrease in exports to Mexico.
